Despite the threat of Hurricane Irma, many shipmates and guests traveled to Charleston to attend our 10th reunion. The uncertainty of Irma's path caused several to cancel their plans and remain home but I think it can be said that for us that were in Charleston, we had a great time. The city wasn't sure what the storm would do so it was in a quasi contingency mode so we decided to cancel the tour after learning that Fort Sumter had quit taking visitors and Patriots Point was uncertain. We also moved the banquet up to Friday so that caused us to cancel our entertainment as well. What did happen was a lot of time to actually reunion because we had more time to visit with other shipmates. Plus the weather turned out beautiful so some used that opportunity to go downtown or go shopping across the street at the large Tanger Outlet Mall. The consensus is that it was a success. Photos below will give a sample of attendees.
